Company
Pabopay is the team behind the money movement no one should have to think about. We build the splitting, onboarding, balances and payout compliance that let marketplaces and platforms pay thousands of sellers — quietly, correctly, and on time.
Why we exist
Every marketplace hits the same wall. You found product-market fit selling other people's goods or services, and then payday arrives — for hundreds of sellers, in a dozen countries, each needing to be verified, paid the right amount, and reported to a tax authority. Suddenly your engineers are writing ledger code and your founders are reading money-transmission law.
We started Pabopay in 2024 because we had lived that wall. Between us we had built payouts inside a gig platform, a ticketing marketplace and a regulated fintech, and we kept rebuilding the same plumbing from scratch. So we built it once, properly: a regulated payout layer with a real double-entry ledger underneath, wrapped in an API a small team can ship in an afternoon.
Today Pabopay moves money for marketplaces in 38 countries. Our job is to be the part of your product your sellers feel but never see — and the part your finance team never has to chase.
How we build
We move other people's money for a living. These are the rules we hold to even when they make a release slower or a demo less flashy.
Every cent that enters Pabopay lands on a double-entry ledger, and that ledger — not a dashboard, not a cache, not a spreadsheet — is the source of truth. If something can't be reconciled to it, we treat it as a bug, not a rounding error.
Payments should be the least exciting part of your week. We optimise for predictable, repeatable and dull — same payout, same time, same outcome — because surprise is the enemy of trust when money is on the line.
The person waiting to get paid never signed up with Pabopay — they signed up with you. So onboarding, status and support are designed for someone who has never heard our name and just wants their money to arrive.
KYC, sanctions screening and tax reporting aren't a checkbox we bolt on at the end — they're features our customers buy us for. We design them to be fast, embedded and humane, not a gate that makes sellers give up.
A seller who has done the work shouldn't wait days to be paid for it. Where a rail settles in seconds, we use it; where it doesn't, we're honest about why. Every hour we shave off a payout is respect we hand back to someone's cash flow.
One disclosed FX margin, no hidden float, an audit trail you can export, and a status page that tells the truth on a bad day. If a number affects how much a seller is paid, that number is something we'll always show you.
By the numbers
Leadership
A founding team that has shipped payouts at gig platforms, ticketing marketplaces and regulated fintechs — and felt the pain of doing it badly.
"We're not here to build the flashiest payments brand. We're here so a founder can pay 10,000 sellers and sleep through the night."
"A ledger that doesn't reconcile to the cent isn't a smaller problem than one that's wrong by millions. We treat both as outages."
Head of Compliance
Spent a decade in AML and licensing at two electronic-money institutions before joining Pabopay to make compliance feel like a product, not a penalty.
VP of Engineering
Built the settlement engine for a top-five gig platform. Owns the ledger, the payout rails and the on-call rota that keeps them running.
Head of Risk
Former fraud lead at a payments processor. Builds the models that decide when to hold, reserve or release a seller's funds.
Careers
We're a remote-friendly team of 64 with hubs in Wyoming, Paris and Lisbon. We hire people who care more about correctness than cleverness, and who get a quiet thrill from a ledger that ties out to the cent.
Don't see your role below? We always want to meet engineers, compliance specialists and operators who have moved money at scale. Write to us with what you'd want to own.
